Police Updates
Vacant/Vacation House Watch
With the summer months approaching we just wanted to remind the residents of the Vacant/Vacation House Watch. Vacant/Vacation House Watch is a service by the Police Department. Officers from the department will complete a 360 degree perimeter check of your property while you are away on vacation or for an extended period of time. Additionally, if the need arises for special or additional attention to a property officers will make daily checks of the registered property. To register your property, please call 610-892-2875.
Last, remember to call 9-1-1 if you see or hear anything or anyone suspicious wandering in yours or your neighbors yards or near homes or cars. Use our vacant building check program, and remember that your police officers are here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help you.
Thefts From Vehicles
The Nether Providence Township Police are investigating several thefts from unlocked vehicles in the Township. In one incident, a resident interrupted a suspect at 4:30 am as the suspect was committing a theft from the resident’s vehicle. The suspect was described as being a white male 15-18 years of age approximately 5’3-5’7 in height wearing jeans and sneakers. As always township police ask residents to use diligence in securing their vehicles and properties and to keep valuables out of sight while they are kept inside vehicles overnight. Since 2005, 98 % of all thefts from vehicles in the township have been from unlocked vehicles.
Investigation by township police shows that the thefts have occurred between the hours of midnight and 5:00 am. Anyone with information is requested to call township detectives at 610-892-2875.
